  1. (organic chemistry) A straight chain fatty alcohol with the chemical formula C10H21(OH), used in manufacture of plasticizers, lubricants, surfactants and solvents.

Usage notes

The atoms of decanol can arrange in five different configurations, resulting in substances with slightly differerent properties. The variants are differentiated from each other by numbering them from 1-decanol to 5-decanol.
