Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *drani, identical to Hesychian ἀρανίς (misspelling of /δρανίς/, dranis) ‘deer’, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰren- ‘drone, buzz’[1] (compare English drone, Ancient Greek θρήνος (thrḗnos, “lament”)).[2]
