Etymology 1
Either an onomatopoeia[1] or from Proto-Albanian *dudā, from Proto-Indo-European *dheu (“to reel, dissipate, blow”). Compare Old Frisian dud (“anesthetization”), Old Norse doðna (“become insensitive”), Old English dydrian (“deceive”), dydring (“yolk”).
