From modern Latin epizeuxis, from Ancient Greek ἐπίζευξις (epízeuxis, “a fastening upon”), from ἐπιζευγνύναι (epizeugnúnai), from ἐπί (epí, “upon”) + ζευγνύναι (zeugnúnai, “to yoke”).
