Etymology
From younger Old Swedish formā, apocopic form of older Old Swedish formāga, formāgha, from Middle Low German vermogen (or German vermögen), equivalent to för- + må. Cognate with Danish formå, Norwegian formå, Old Norse formuga, younger Icelandic fyrirmoga and Dutch vermogen.[1][2][3]
