Usage notes
While farsi has been gaining some currency in Catalan, as it has with other European languages, for the Persian of Iran, the preferred scholarly term remains persa occidental.

- Persian (language).
- A person speaking Persian as his mother tongue.
- In plural (farsit), the Persians collecively.
Usage notes
In Finnish the term farsi has been adopted to refer to the modern language, which is the official language of Iran, and is also widely spoken in Afghanistan and Tadjikistan. Until about 1970's the language was called persia. In English, the term Persian is the accepted one, although Farsi is currently gaining some ground. The Finnish term persia is currently reserved to the old Persian language.
