Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *(V)iōś-, from Proto-Indo-European *Hyeh₃s- (“to gird”). Cognate to Ancient Greek ζώννυμι (zṓnnumi, “to gird”) and Old Church Slavonic по-ꙗсати (po-jasati, “to gird”).[1]
