kontraŭjudismo
Esperanto
Etymology
From kontraŭ- (“against”) + judismo (“Judaism”).
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /kontrau̯juˈdismo/
- Hyphenation: kon‧traŭ‧ju‧dis‧mo
Noun
kontraŭjudismo (uncountable, accusative kontraŭjudismon)
- narrow anti-Semitism; prejudice, discrimination, or hostility directed towards Jews
Usage notes
- Unlike the English anti-Semitism, kontraŭjudismo refers solely to Jews, and not to the various other Semitic peoples, such as Arabs, although despite its etymology, the English word is in practice almost exclusively used to refer to antipathy aimed specifically at Jews.
