From Proto-Slavic *kъrzьno. Cognate with Russian корзно (korzno, “fur coat”), dialectal Bulgarian кръзна (krǎzna, “grime on the skin”), Slovenian krzno. The Slavic word was loaned from an Eastern language, compare Ossetian кæрц (kærc, “fur coat”). German Kürschner (“furrier”) is of Slavic origin.
