From Proto-Slavic *krivъ, from Proto-Indo-European *kreywos. Cognate with Lithuanian kreivas, Latin curvus (from zero-grade) and indirectly Latvian krails, Old Irish cruind, and Ancient Greek κορωνός (korōnós).
