From kutkuttaa (to to tickle tr. and intr.), probably descriptive of the feeling. Many Eurasian languages seem to express tickling with similar sounds, among the closest comparisons are Hindi गुदगुदाना (gudgudānā, to tickle), Latvian kutināt (to tickle), but the similarity is most likely coincidental.
