liy

Aghu Tharrnggala

Etymology

Thought by Barry Alpher to be a loanword because it retains its initial consonant. Ultimately from Proto-Pama-Nyungan *dirra, *rirra, *lirra (tooth). Compare Kuku-Yalanji dirra (tooth), Warrgamay yirra (tooth), and general Warungu rirra and the Gu(d)jal additional forms riyala and wurriya, all meaning "tooth".

Noun

liy

  1. tooth
