llombrígol

Catalan

Etymology

From a variant of Old Occitan [Term?] (compare Occitan embonígol), from a Vulgar Latin *umbilīculus, diminutive of Latin umbilīcus, with agglutination of a preceding definite article in Catalan (l'ombrígol). Compare also the development of French nombril, Romanian buric. The Latin derives from Proto-Indo-European *h₃nobʰilos (navel), from *h₃nebʰ-.
