Etymology
From Swiss Old High German mānintag, from Proto-Germanic *mēniniz dagaz (literally “day of the moon”), calque of Latin diēs Lūnae. Cognate with Dutch maandag, English Monday, German Montag, Icelandic mánudagur, Swedish måndag.
