From Old Albanian ëmbush, from Proto-Albanian *en-busa,[1] from Proto-Indo-European *bu-n-s-, nasalized weak stem of *beus- ‘to blow up, puff out, swell’ (compare Ancient Greek βυνέω (bunéō) ‘to stuff’, Old High German pfoso ‘bag’).[2]
