Etymology

Probably formed from *muelto[1][2] a hypothetical old past participle of moler (cf. Latin molitus), and the suffix -ura (compare Catalan mòlt as the past participle of moldre, Old French mols, mous for moldre, moudre, etc.) Alternatively, possibly corresponds to a Vulgar Latin *molitura (compare French mouture, Friulian muldure), from Latin molitus.

Noun

moltura f (plural molturas)

  1. the action and effect of grinding grains or fruits
