Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *ən-dūja, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *dʰewh₂- (“smoke, mist, haze”). Cognate with Latvian dujs (“dirty”), Lithuanian dujà (“swamp; mist, drizzle”), English dusk and possibly Dacian Δουιανα (Duiana), a toponym.
