notkun
Icelandic
Etymology
From notka (“to make use of”) + -un.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈnɔːtkʏn/
- (nonstandard) IPA(key): /ˈnɔhtkʏn/
Usage notes
Though originally derived from the verb notka, that verb is obsolete and notkun is now used as the verbal noun of nota (“to use”), as e.g. in compounds such as misnotkun (“abuse”) from misnota (“to abuse”).
