Etymology
Origin unknown. Early entries for fleek in Urban Dictionary date to 2003 (defined as "smooth, nice, sweet") and 2009 (defined as "awesome"). The term was popularized by Chicago-area teen Kayla Newman posted on Vine in June 2014 under her username "Peaches Monroee."[1], in which Newman, who had just had her eyebrows done for the first time, proudly declares "eyebrows on fleek."[1] Newman has claimed that the word "just came to [her] out of the blue."[1]
