păraț
Romanian
Etymology
From Latin palātum (“palate”), probably confused with or influenced by palātium (“palace”) phonetically (or perhaps through a Vulgar Latin *palātium). Compare French palais (“palate”), in which the same evolution took place.
Doublet of palat, a borrowing.
