pirssi
Finnish
Etymology
Originally pirssi was a station where horse-drawn carriages waited for passengers. When automobiles replaced the horses, the cars were called pirssiauto or vuokra-auto. Later, according to international practice the term taksi (“taxi”) was adopted by the branch but pirssi still remains as colloquial term for "taxi".
