From Latin racematio (“a gleaning”), from racemari (“to glean”), racemus (“a cluster of grapes”). See raceme.

- A cluster or bunch, as of grapes.
- 1646/50, Sir Thomas Browne, Pseudodoxia Epidemica:
- Since also a Cock will in one day fertilitate the whole racemation or cluster of egges, which are not excluded in many weeks after.
