From Proto-Albanian *wragtja, related to rrah[1]. Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *raT(ś)i-, from Proto-Indo-European *ureh1ǵ(h)- 'to strike, beat'. Cognate to Ancient Greek ῥάττω (rháttō, to strike, beat)[2].
