salava
Catalan
Finnish
Etymology
From earlier *salaga (compare dialectal salaja). Further origin unclear: possibly from Proto-Germanic *salhô (“willow”) (compare Swedish sälg, English sallow) or from Proto-Finno-Ugric *śëla (“elm”) (compare Mari шол (šol), Hungarian szil). In either case, no cognates in the other Finnic languages are known.
