From Persian سکنجبین‎ (sekanjabin, “honeyed vinegar”), from Arabic سِكَنْجَبِين‎ (sikanjabīn), from Persian سکنگبین‎ (sekangabin), from earlier سرکنگبین‎ (serkangabin), from سرکه‎ (serke, “vinegar”) and انگبین‎ (angobin, “honey”).
