shkurt
Albanian
Etymology
Definitive origin unknown. Possibly from a substrate.
Probably from dialectal version of Proto-Indo-European *(s)ker-.
Possibly from Proto-Germanic *skurtaz, hence also shkurte. Or from Vulgar Latin *excurtus (cf. Italian scurto, Romanian scurt), derivative of Latin curtus.[1]
