Borrowing from an Oghur language before the times of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin (at the turn of the 9th and 10th centuries). Compare Chuvash тӗкӗр (tĕkĕr, “mirror”), Western Mari тӹгӹр (tə̈gə̈r, “mirror”).
