From Arabic تَكْفُور (takfūr), from Middle Armenian թագւոր (tʿagwor), from Old Armenian թագաւոր (tʿagawor, king), from Parthian *tag(a)-bar (king, literally crown bearing), borrowed during the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.
