From older and dialectal thalb, from Proto-Albanian *tsalba, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱel- 'to cover' (compare Ancient Greek κέλῦφος (kélûphos) ‘shell, pod’, Old English heolstor ‘darkness’).[1]
