Borrowed from French tréflé. See trefoil.

tréflé (not comparable)

  1. (heraldry) Having a three-lobed extremity or extremities, like a cross.
  2. (heraldry) Less commonly, ornamented with trefoils projecting from the edges, like a bearing.
