From Proto-Albanian *wurdā, from an earlier *urdā or *uordā, from Proto-Indo-European *uer- (“to boil, to burn”). Cognate to Old Armenian վառիմ (vaṙim, “to burn”), Lithuanian vìrti (“to cook, to boil”)[1].
