vathë
Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *a)uaϑā, from Proto-Indo-European *h2ues- 'to dwell, abide, pass/stay the night'. Cognate to Sanskrit वास (vāsá-, “sojourn, stay, spending the night”), प्रौष्ठ (próṣṭha-, “lodging”)[1]. Alternatively from an unattested *vartë, from Proto-Albanian *wartā, close to Tocharian B wärto (“garten”), Irish fert (“grave mound”), Old English weorð (“yard”)[2].
Noun
vathë m (indefinite plural vathe, definite singular vathi, definite plural vathet)
