- (linguistics) In the Esperanto language, a convention whereby diacritics (ĉ, ĝ, ĥ, ĵ, ŝ, ŭ) are replaced by an x after the non-diacriticked letter (cx, gx, hx, jx, sx, ux), for convenience of typing.
