Whether you know for sure or suspect you were exposed to DES, you can use CDC's DES Update to learn more about DES exposure and what you can do about it. You'll find helpful information on DES research findings and a guide to help you assess whether you might have been exposed to DES. Interactive DES Self-Assessment Guide
No known medical test (such as blood, urine or skin analysis) has been developed that can detect DES exposure. However, the Interactive DES Self-Assessment Guide is designed to help you assess whether you might have been exposed to DES between 1938 and 1971.

Women Prescribed DES While Pregnant

Women who were prescribed DES while pregnant between 1938 and 1971; these women had a history of miscarriage or giving birth prematurely.

DES Sons

Men exposed to DES before birth (in the womb); born between 1938 and 1971.

DES Daughters

Women exposed to DES before birth (in the womb); born between 1938 and 1971.

DES Third Generation

Offspring of DES Daughters and Sons are reaching the age when health issues can be studied.
