Just as it is possible to walk, jog or run, it is also possible to read at different speeds. It is a good thing to be able to read live or at the maximum speed.
This Course of Speed Reading offers the possibility to double your reading speed without comprising the fundamental requisite of comprehension. From the experience of this type of course carried out in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, and implemented by the author in Spain, the average increase of one’s reading speed is of 100 percent. It is also true that some students can even triple their initial reading speed. Comprehension is usually maintained between 6 and 7 points out of 10; this was measured through a multiple choice questionnaire of 10 questions.
This course targets students of secondary school, high school, university as well as professionals that have a lot of material to read. This course, however, is not recommended to students of primary school.
The course consists of doing a series of specific exercises that empower in gaining the reading skills that are difficult to acquire without the exercises.
With time, there is a slight reduction of the average speed, without a lot of change in the level of comprehension.
This course has ten lessons. Each one of them can be done in one or two sessions. Moreover, it is also recommended that the student reads at home books of medium difficulty.
Each lesson is composed of a text about speed reading followed by a comprehension test of ten questions. After, there are four exercises with “meaningless” material to widen the visual field within which groups of letters and/or numbers to remember and write are displayed in a short amount of time. The same exercise is then repeated with words and phrases. Below is an exercise of rhythmic reading which text is divided into columns that must be read with a determined speed. There is also a reading comprehension test about different animals by Doctor Rodriguez de la Fuente, as seen in La Actualidad Española, a Spanish magazine.
This reading can be considered official in order to measure progress. In this first lesson about the royal eagle, it will be done in the beginning before the rest of the exercises. In order to take advantage of the course, it is important to do all the exercises in the order that they are displayed.
