19. First, second and third commandment

  1. First commandment

    A lawyer asked Jesus a question to test him: ‘Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?’ He said to him, ‘ “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the greatest and first commandment.' (Mt 22,36-38). To love God is the most important thing in our lifes.

  What are our responsabilities with God? To be consciuos that He is our Lord; to believe in what He revealed to us; to serve Him, obeying his will; to adore Him in body and soul; to pray and adore him and love over the rest of things. The first commandment order to believe, wait, love and adore God.

  2. Second commandment

    The second commanment is:You shall not take the name of the Lord in vain.

   Everybody has a name. We don't like when our name is criticied or if somebody jokes about it, and we also defend the name of our parents and friends.

   God has a name: God, Jesus, Jesus Christ, Lord. We must to pronounce his name with huge respect and love because He is our God and our Father.

   In the Lord's Prayer we say: 'Hallowed by your name'. We say these because the respect we have for God's name.

   A blasphemy is to say words or make ugly gestures against God, the Virgin, the Saints or the Church. If it is done being aware of that, it is a grave sin.

  3. Third commandment

    The third commandment of the Law of God: to keep holy the Lord's day.

   God order to give him a day in the week for his workship and for an appropriate rest. The Apostles chose Sunday because that was the day when Jesus resurrected. It was also on Sunday when the Holy Spirit came to the Apostles on Whitsun. We celebrate the resurrection of our Lord every Sunday.

   God wants we adore him and gave him workship, assisting to mass every Sunday and other Holy days. Going to mass is the biggest act we can make in our workship. The first commandment of the Church is to attend to mass every Sunday and Holy days.
