   Geography. The country takes up the continental region of Oceania and the island of Tasmania. The relief is mostly flat. The Australian mountain range extended itself over the East coast. In the interior of the country we can found the Great Central Basin, a desertic plateau surrounded by steppes and savannah. Desert areas spread to the West. The North region, the rainiest of the country, has a mild climate and dense jungles. 75% of the population is concentrated around the Southeast coast, which has mild climate and well spread rainfall throughout the year. Australia is also one of the biggest wheat producers. It also produces oats, barley and sugar cane. It has the biggest ovine cattle in its interior steppes, and it is one of the main world exporters of yarn. It also exports meat and dairy products and is one of the main mineral producers: coal, iron, bauxite, lead, zinc, copper, nickel and uranium. It is fully self-sufficient of petroleum and has a remarkable industrial park, concentrated in the South East.

   Geography:It is situated in the South-East of Australia. Its two main islands are mountainous: the North island is volcanic, with plateaus and geisers. The South is crossed by a mountain range (Southern Alps), with peaks over 3.000 metres. The climate is rainy and temperate, being colder in the South. The basis of the local economy is agriculture, but tourism is increasing importance.
