CDC Global Health in the News

ABC News’ Chief Health and Medical Editor, Dr. Richard Besser (left), interviews Dr. Pierre Rollin (right) at the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe. In August 2012, Dr. Rollin led a team from CDC’s Viral Special Pathogens Branch investigating an outbreak of Ebola hemorrhagic fever in Kibaale District of Western Uganda.

Data generated by Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response prompted a national measles vaccine campaign in Sierra Leone, increasing global health security for the U.S. and other countries around the world.
