Aware is a voluntary organisation based in Ireland which aims to assist people affected by depression, bipolar disorder and related mood conditions. Its CEO is Dominic Layden.

Services

Aware has information about depression, bipolar disorder and related mood conditions on their website. Aware delivers a lecture series monthly, which is available to view online.

Programmes

Aware offers several programmes:[1]

  • Life Skills Group Programme (6 week programme)
  • Life Skills Online (8 week online programme)
  • Relatives & Friends Programme (4 week programme)

Aware also has school programmes for senior cycle students: Life Skills for Schools and a Beat the Blues talk.

Fundraising activities

Aware relies heavily on the support of individuals, communities and companies to help run their programmes each year. In addition to external fundraising, Aware have an annual Harbour2Harbour walk on St. Patrick's Day as well as a Christmas Run in December.

Volunteers

Aware has over 400 volunteers around the country supporting their services every week. They recruit volunteers twice a year.
