Duplex retina

A duplex retina is a retina consisting of both rod cells and cone cells.[1] In contrast to duplex retinas, pure rod and pure cone retinas have only rods or cones, respectively.[2] Duplex retinas increase the range of light intensities that can be viewed, as rod cells can detect light at scotopic and mesopic intensities, while cone cells can detect light at mesopic and photopic intensities.[3]
