Pili annulati, also known as spangled hair, is hair that seems ‘banded‘ by alternating segments of light and dark color when seen in reflected light.[1][2] It is first noticed in young children.[1]
It is inherited and not associated with other diseases.[1] Diagnosis is by its appearance and microscopy, and no treatment is required.[1]
It was first reported in 1920.[3]
