13 February – Massacre of Glencoe: Men of the Earl of Argyll's Regiment of Foot under the command of Captain Robert Campbell of Glenlyon massacre 38 Jacobite-sympathising MacDonald of Glencoe from whom they have previously accepted hospitality.[1]
