1949 European Wrestling Championships
The 1949 European Wrestling Championships was held from 3 to 5 June 1949 in Istanbul, Turkey. In the championship where only men's freestyle competitions were held, Turkey ranked first in the team rankings. Individually, Turkey ranked first with 6 gold medals and one silver and bronze medal each, followed by Sweden with two gold and bronze medals each and 3 silver medals, and Iran with 4 silver and 1 bronze medal.[1][2]
