  2. "Quebec election results stay true to polls," Montreal Gazette, November 3, 1998, A8; Le Gardien, September–October 2001, p. 28. The former source indicates that Ryan was returned by acclamation, though it does not provide council results. The latter source lists all Montreal North councillors at the time of the city's amalgamation into the new megacity of Montreal in 2001; all listed councillors except Brabant were members of the previous Montreal North council (1994–98), and it may be reasonably assumed that they were re-elected in 1998. The sources listed do not clarify if Brabant was elected in 1998 or in a subsequent by-election, nor do they specify if he was a member of Renouveau municipal.
