- Bayern Munich (A) qualified for the new, four-division, third tier Regionalliga in 1994
- The German league changed from 2 points for a win to 3 from the 1995–96 season onwards
- Bayern's reserve team changed name from Bayern Munich Amateure to Bayern Munich II in 2005
- Reserve teams are ineligible to qualify for the DFB-Pokal from the 2008–09 season onwards.
- Bayern Munich II qualified for the new national 3. Liga in 2008
- The Regionalliga was restructured in 2012, with the Regionalliga Bayern replacing the Regionalliga Süd for Bavarian teams
- Bayern II faced Regionalliga West champions Fortuna Köln in a promotion play-off, and lost on away goals after a 2–2 draw
