2023 Cricket World Cup officials

Match officials for the 2023 Cricket World Cup were selected by the Umpire selection panel, headed by Sean Easey, ICC Senior Manager – Umpires and Referees. The umpire selection panel selected 12 umpires to officiate at the World Cup: Out of 16 umpires three were from Australia, four from England, four from Asia, two each from New Zealand and South Africa and one from West Indies. It also selected 4 match referees for the event.[1][2]

Umpires

Out of the selected umpires, twelve of them belong to the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires while the remaining four belong to the International Panel of Umpires and Referees who are the members of the ICC Emerging Panel of Umpires.[1]

Sharfuddoula became the first Bangladeshi umpire to be selected as one of the umpires for the Men's World Cup.[3] Aleem Dar who was one of the match officials for the 2019 Cricket World Cup Final, was a notable exclusion from this list since he stepped down from the Elite Panel in March 2023. Nitin Menon who will stand in his World Cup match, is the youngest match official at the age of 39.[4]

Alex Wharf was replaced by Joel Wilson as one of the on-field umpires during the match between Australia and Sri Lanka on 16 October. Wharf, originally named Third umpire for the matches between Afghnistan and New Zealand on 18 October and Australia and Pakistan on 20 October, was replaced by the reserve umpires of those concerning matches while India's Jayaraman Madanagopal took up the duty of reserve umpire. Wharf was again replaced by Ahsan Raza as an on-field umpire in the match between Bangladesh vs South Africa on 24 October, while K. N. Ananthapadmanabhan took the charge of the fourth umpire.

On 22 October, in the match between India vs New Zealand, the fourth umpire of the match Adrian Holdstock took the on-field duty replacing Richard Kettleborough while local umpire Praveen Sen was the fourth umpire.
