2023 Rafael Nadal tennis season
The 2023 Rafael Nadal tennis season officially began on 29 December 2022, with the start of the 2023 United Cup.[2] Nadal's season ended early after suffering an injury at the Australian Open.[3] During the season, he lost his all-time record of the number of major wins to Novak Djokovic,[4] and ended his streak of 912 weeks at the top 10 in the ATP rankings.

United Cup
Australian Open
Rafael Nadal was the defending champion. He defeated Jack Draper in 4 sets in the opening round with Draper suffering cramps in the later stages of the match.[5] Nadal was defeated by Mackenzie McDonald in the second round in straight sets with Nadal suffering a hip injury to the ileopsoas muscle in his left leg during the match.[3]
Indian Wells Masters
Rafael Nadal withdrew from the tournament due to a left leg injury. As a result, he dropped out of the top 10 in the ATP rankings for the first time since his top 10 debut in 2005, ending a record streak of 912 weeks.
Monte-Carlo Masters
Rafael Nadal withdrew from the Monte-Carlo Masters due to injury.
Madrid Open
Rafael Nadal was not be able to participate at the Madrid Open due to his ongoing injury concerns.

French Open (Roland Garros)
Rafael Nadal announced his withdrawal from the French Open 2023 due to ongoing injury concerns in a press conference. This marks the first time since 2004 that Nadal will miss the French Open, an event he has won 14 times. Nadal was the defending champion, having won the event in 2022.[6] As a result, he will drop out of the top 100 for the first time in 20 years, when he entered it for the first time since May 2003.[7]
