Biography

Adrian Virgil Ursache was born on 1 November 1974 in Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Romania. He worked as an auto mechanic in his hometown, and continued practicing this office after emigrating to Germany.[1] Ursache converted to Islam to be able to marry Yasemin Mansoor.[2] A former bodybuilder, Ursache was elected to "Mister Germany" in 1998. He worked as an entrepreneur but went bankrupt. As his financial difficulties increased, so did his conspiracy theories.[3]

In 2014, Ursache founded the pseudo-state “Ur” on his and his in-laws’ property in Reuden, Saxony. Because he refused to pay a large number of state and private demands totaling around 150,000 euros, his property was forcibly auctioned off. He was asked to vacate the property several times.

As a result, the property was ordered to be evacuated by a bailiff.

Stand-off

A week before the eviction, Ursache posted a video online in which he revealed the bailiff's personal information and threatened to "slaughter anyone" who dared to enter his state for the purpose of eviction. The bailiff was then under police protection. Ursache mobilized supporters and an initial attempt to clear the house failed. The Saxony-Anhalt police provided assistance to the law enforcement officer and deployed to Reuden on August 25, 2016, two Hundertschaften, including a SEK.

During the raid Adrian Ursache shot an officer in the face with a revolver. The bullet ricocheted off his helmet visor and injured the police officer in the neck, causing him to be shot and seriously injured.[4] According to the police, Cause's supporters threw paving stones at police officers. One of his supporters at the time was Wolfgang Plan, who shot a SEK officer during a police operation in his house in Georgensgmünd weeks later.

In 2019, Ursache was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempted murder, bodily harm, resisting law enforcement officers and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. The SEK officer was only not fatally injured because of his protective clothing, it was when justifying the verdict.[5]
