Alex Matos (born 3 October 2004) is an English professional footballer who is a winger at Premier League side Chelsea.

Club career

Born in Bedford, Matos started his career with Luton Town,[2] before joining Norwich City in 2016.[3] Matos can play in attacking midfield, either wing or as a striker.[4] He became a regular for Norwich’s Under-18s during the 2022–23 season.[5] He also made his debut for the Under-21s and scored three goals in the Premier League 2 for the latter.[6]

On 1 July 2023, Matos signed for Premier League side Chelsea.[7] The transfer was reported as a free transfer with add-ons.[8]

On 2 October 2023, a day before his 19th birthday, Matos made his professional debut in the Premier League match against Fulham. He came off the bench in stoppage time, replacing Enzo Fernández in a 2–0 away victory.[9]

Matos has represented England at under-15 level.[10][11]
