Early life

Before entering politics Humphries spent over 20 years in media, marketing, crisis management and public relations, and was a Guest Lecturer at Western Sydney University.[2]

In 2016, Humphries was the subject of a Sydney Morning Herald article when she travelled to the United States for the US Presidential Election to serve on the Clinton Campaign's Voter Protection Team in Tampa Florida.[3]

She also served on the board of Blacktown Workers Club, including serving the period from 2017 to 2023 as Club Director.[4]

Political career

On election night, Humphries was the first candidate to be declared election from the ward on the first count,[5] with 1.19 quotas,[6] the second highest Labor result in the history of the ward. Her election coincided with the first time Labor won an effective majority on the council since 2008.[7] It was also the first time Parramatta Council would be made up of a female majority, including in Humphries own ward of North Rocks where all three Councillors are women.[8]

She serves on the:

Humphries was one of nine Councillors to vote against compelling then-Lord Mayor Donna Davis to resign her mayorship in light of her election to the NSW Legislative Assembly.[9]

When Davis resigned as Lord Mayor, Humphries was one of the seven Councillors to vote for Sameer Pandey to succeed her in an Extraordinary Council Meeting.[10]

In July 2023, Clr. Humphries rose to national prominence when she spearheaded the creation of baby haven boxes within Parramatta Council, a first time proposal in Australia.[11] The proposal followed the surrender of a baby in a backyard in neighbouring Blacktown in April that year.[12]
